Transformation: A stock 12’ X 56’ mobile office needed
to serve as an upscale real estate sales office selling half a million
dollar new homes—which weren’t built yet. The construction
trailer was renovated and appointed tastefully so the sales team
could help prospective buyers envision ocean-front dream homes where
they could only see dirt. The standard white steel exterior siding
was re-painted a warmer cream and wood trellises were added to soften
the roof line. French doors replaced the standard solid steel front
door and a sliding glass door on the opposite exterior wall opened
onto a deck with a sweeping ocean view. Interior drywall was installed
over the standard birch paneling, residential carpet laid over the
standard vinyl composition tile and track lighting highlighted the
sales displays. Hawaiian and tropical foliage around the sales trailer
added a plantation feel.
Because
the trailer was rented, and had to be restored to its original condition
at the end of the agreement, , the developers’ architect had
to renovate the construction trailer in a way that modifications
could be removed. Carpet was tacked on top of the VCT instead of
glued; roof trellises were attached without holes made in the roof.
The original steel doors were saved so the glass doors could be
removed, the walls reframed, and the original doors re-installed.
Renovating a
stock mobile office instead of building a permanent structure meant
cost savings and time savings. We delivered the mobile office in
a day and they were able to occupy it and start sales a month later.
When the project has sold out, the mobile office will be removed
and a new home built in its place.
