Kapalua
Land Company
Two
modular buildings provide office space for a large, high-end
resort development company on Maui. The first office building
includes a large office for the VP of administration, an interview
room, offices for human resources managers and records manager,
a reception area, a handicap accessible restroom, a break
room, and a copy room.
The information
systems department uses the second building. It includes four
private offices, a disabled accessible restroom, and two larger
rooms which house large computer networks and banks of personal
computers. The complex is located off the second hole of the
prestigious Kapalua golf course, surrounded by lush trees
blending nicely into the surroundings. In keeping with the
"plantation" design of the area. The exterior siding
is T-1-11 Duratemp. The roof is a composition shingle, chosen
to match the surrounding resort buildings.
Because
the computer room equipment generates a large amount of heat,
additional air conditioning capacity was designed and engineered
to meet the cooling needs. Microlams were used for the ridgebeam
to keep the building straight throughout the transportation
of the modules from the factory to the dock, then over the
ocean on a barge and finally trucking it to the site.
